About Kāya Yoga Immersion
Whether you have never felt the need to enrol in a Yoga Teacher Training Course, or have already completed one and wish to deepen your understanding, this immersion is designed for you.
Perhaps you simply want to understand your practice more deeply. Maybe you’re curious about how the body moves, why alignment matters, how to practise more intelligently, or how traditional yoga philosophy informs the purpose and practice of yoga, especially āsana.
Or perhaps you have already completed a Yoga Teacher Training Course and discovered that your learning journey has only just begun. While a TTC provides a valuable foundation, many practitioners leave wanting a deeper understanding of anatomy, movement, biomechanics, and the principles that shape an effective and sustainable practice.
Set over five days in the heart of Mysore, India, the Kāya Yoga Immersion is designed for dedicated practitioners who wish to explore yoga beyond the regular class. Through a balanced combination of guided practice and structured study, we examine functional anatomy, biomechanics, functional alignment, intelligent sequencing, movement awareness, breath integration, and the philosophical foundations of yoga in an accessible and practical way.
Whether you are a regular practitioner, a yoga teacher, or simply someone who enjoys learning, this immersion offers an opportunity to deepen both your practice and your understanding of yoga—without the commitment of a lengthy teacher training programme.
Come to practise with greater awareness. Come to understand with greater clarity. Come to experience yoga more deeply.

Why This Immersion?
Regular yoga classes play an invaluable role in developing a consistent practice. Over time, they cultivate strength, mobility, balance, coordination, and familiarity with the postures. Yet the pace of a group class rarely allows time to explore the questions that naturally arise: Why is this posture practised in this way? How does the body actually move? What role do breath, alignment, and sequencing play? How does philosophy shape the purpose of practice?
The Kāya Yoga Immersion was created to provide the time and space for this deeper exploration. Over five days, practice and study come together in a way that is seldom possible within the format of a regular class. Each practical session is complemented by structured discussions that connect direct experience with anatomy, biomechanics, functional alignment, neurophysiology, and the philosophical foundations of yoga.
The immersion is rooted in the principles of Kāya Yoga, the body-oriented branch of Trianga Yoga that integrates āsana with functional anatomy, biomechanics, neurophysiology, and intelligent alignment. If this is your first introduction to Kāya Yoga, I invite you to explore the Kāya Yoga page to learn more about its philosophy, approach, and distinctive method of practice before continuing.
This immersion is not intended to replace a Yoga Teacher Training Course, nor is it designed exclusively for aspiring teachers. Rather, it offers dedicated practitioners an opportunity to deepen their understanding of yoga, ask questions, refine their practice, and develop a clearer appreciation of both the body and the tradition that informs it.
Whether your goal is to enrich your personal practice, strengthen your teaching, or simply satisfy a genuine curiosity about yoga, this immersion invites you to move beyond doing the practice towards understanding it.

What You Will Experience During These Five Days
The Kāya Yoga Immersion is designed as a progressive learning journey, with each day building naturally upon the previous one. As you move through the programme, you’ll gradually develop a deeper understanding of movement, alignment, anatomy, and the broader purpose of āsana within the yogic tradition. As your physical awareness grows, you’ll begin to observe your practice with greater clarity, refine your movements with more confidence, and develop a more intelligent relationship with your body.
Each day combines a carefully structured āsana practice with guided learning that explores the principles behind the practice. You’ll discover that functional alignment is not about conforming to a single ideal shape, but about understanding how your own body moves and responds in each posture. Anatomy, biomechanics, neurophysiology, and yoga philosophy are continually related back to your direct experience, helping you apply what you learn on the mat rather than simply remember it.
By the end of the five days, you’ll leave with much more than a sequence of āsanas or a collection of anatomical concepts. You’ll have a deeper understanding of your body, greater confidence in applying the principles of functional alignment, and a clearer appreciation of how traditional yogic wisdom and contemporary movement science can work together to support a safe, effective, and sustainable yoga practice.

Program Structure
The Kāya Yoga Immersion is carefully structured to balance experiential learning with systematic study. Each day combines an extended āsana practice with in-depth theoretical sessions, allowing participants to integrate direct experience with a deeper understanding of anatomy, movement, alignment, and yogic philosophy. Together, these two components provide a comprehensive framework for developing a more intelligent, sustainable, and purposeful approach to āsana practice.
Āsana Practice
2 Hours Daily
Each practice session follows the distinctive Kāya Yoga Sequence, combining traditional āsana with principles of functional movement, breath awareness, and intelligent sequencing. Through a balanced and progressive approach, practitioners cultivate strength, mobility, stability, coordination, and embodied awareness while developing a deeper understanding of how the body functions in practice.
- Standing postures
- Forward bends
- Backbends
- Twists
- Lateral bends
- Hip-opening postures
- Arm balances
- Inversions
- Strength and mobility development

Learning
1.5 Hours Daily
Each learning session combines discussion, demonstration, and practical exploration to deepen the understanding of āsana beyond physical practice alone. Through the study of functional anatomy, biomechanics, neurophysiology, alignment principles, and yoga philosophy, participants learn to apply these insights directly to their own practice, making it more intelligent, effective, and sustainable.
- Functional Anatomy & Neurophysiology-Informed Sequencing of Āsanas
- Functional Alignment through Anatomy & Biomechanics
- The Nervous System & the Psychology of Āsanas
- Pancha Kosha & the Scope of Āsana Practice

Who is This Immersion For?
The Kāya Yoga Immersion is intended for practitioners who wish to deepen both their practice and their understanding of yoga. Whether your interest lies in refining your personal practice, strengthening your teaching, or exploring the principles that underpin intelligent movement, the programme offers a supportive environment for learning, inquiry, and growth.
This immersion is especially suited for:
- Dedicated yoga practitioners seeking a deeper understanding of their practice.
- Yoga teachers wishing to refine their knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, alignment, and sequencing.
- Graduates of Yoga Teacher Training Courses who wish to continue learning beyond their initial training.
- Practitioners interested in functional movement and a more individualised approach to alignment.
- Students who wish to bridge modern movement science with the philosophical foundations of yoga.
Regardless of your background, what matters most is a genuine curiosity, an openness to learning, and a willingness to explore yoga beyond the boundaries of the regular class.

What You Will Learn
The Kāya Yoga Immersion combines the direct experience of āsana practice with a deeper exploration of the principles that inform it. Rather than simply learning what to practise, participants are encouraged to understand why they practise in a particular way. Through the integrated study of anatomy, biomechanics, neurophysiology, movement, and yoga philosophy, the programme offers a broader perspective on how āsana can be approached with greater intelligence, awareness, and purpose.
Practical Skills
The practical sessions develop the skills, awareness, and confidence needed to practise āsana with greater intelligence and precision. Each posture, transition, and sequence is taught progressively and within the framework of the Kāya Yoga Sequence, allowing you to understand not only how the movements are performed, but also why they are practised and how they influence the body. Through regular guided practice, you’ll cultivate a safe, effective, and sustainable approach that can be integrated into your own personal practice or teaching.
Functional Anatomy & Intelligent Sequencing
A well-designed sequence is far more than a collection of postures arranged in a logical order. Every āsana, transition, counterpose, and change in intensity influences the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system, and the overall experience of practice. This module explores the principles that guide the distinctive Kāya Yoga Sequence, drawing upon functional anatomy and neurophysiology to understand how thoughtful sequencing can develop strength, mobility, stability, coordination, and embodied awareness while promoting a safe, balanced, and sustainable practice.
Anatomy & Biomechanics of Functional Alignment
Functional alignment recognises that every body is unique. Differences in skeletal structure, body proportions, joint orientation, mobility, strength, and movement history all influence how an individual experiences an āsana. Rather than attempting to fit everyone into an idealised external shape, this module explores how anatomy and biomechanics can guide a more intelligent and individualised approach to practice. Participants learn to appreciate the purpose behind alignment principles, enabling them to move with greater efficiency, stability, safety, and confidence while respecting the natural diversity of human bodies.
The Nervous System & the Psychology of Āsanas
Every āsana influences far more than muscles and joints. The way we move, breathe, and hold the body shapes the activity of the nervous system and, in turn, our thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behaviour. This module explores the relationship between movement, posture, attention, and psychological experience through the lens of contemporary neurophysiology and yogic understanding. Participants develop a deeper appreciation of how different categories of āsanas can influence energy, emotional regulation, concentration, relaxation, and self-awareness, revealing yoga as a practice that integrates both body and mind.
Pancha Kosha & the Scope of Āsana Practice
The yogic tradition views the human being as far more than a physical body. Through the model of the Pañcha Kośa, or the Five Sheaths, yoga offers a broader understanding of how practice influences every dimension of our being. This module explores how āsana extends beyond developing strength, mobility, and flexibility to cultivate the breath, steady the mind, refine awareness, and support inner transformation. Participants gain a deeper appreciation of the place of physical practice within the larger purpose and scope of yoga.

What You’ll Take Away
By the end of the immersion, you’ll have developed not only a stronger and more confident āsana practice, but also a deeper understanding of the principles that shape it. Through the systematic practice of the Kāya Yoga Sequence, you’ll cultivate greater strength, mobility, stability, coordination, and body awareness, while learning to apply the principles of functional alignment with greater clarity and confidence. Supported by an understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, neurophysiology, and yoga philosophy, you’ll leave with a more intelligent, purposeful, and sustainable approach to both your personal practice and your teaching.

Certificate of Completion
Participants who successfully complete the Kāya Yoga Immersion will receive a Certificate of Completion in recognition of their commitment to the study and practice of Kāya Yoga.
